 Updated for compatibility with VirtueMart 2.0 (Joomla! 2.5/1.7 only). With PayPal Pro, customers remain on your site and enter card details on your site, and do not necessarily know which payment provider is authorising the transaction on your behalf. This component includes Cardinal 3-D Secure/Verified by Visa authentication. You need a SSL Certificate to use the direct payment method. This component adds 'Start date' and 'Issue number' fields to the payment page for Maestro/Solo cards. To use the 'Direct payment' credit/debit card-processing facility you need to accept the Website Payments Pro agreement in your PayPal account, and agree to a monthly payment to PayPal. We provide technical support with this component. Supplied as a component for VirtueMart 1, and a plugin for VirtueMart 2.

I've set up two sites, both using Joomla/Virtuemart and both clients wanted to accept payments via Paypal, but integrated into the site rather than going to Paypal's own site for the checkout procedure.
Virtuemart is a great product, if a little tricky to set up. But this Virtuemart plugin couldn't be easier to use. Just install like any other Joomla component, pop in your Paypal "Website Payments Pro" details and enable. You can even change between Paypal's live and test environments to allow proper testing before you take the step to test live with your own credit card! I did have some problems setting it up, but that turned out to be a Paypal issue. Nevertheless, the developer has replied promptly to several e-mails discussing what I've done wrong and I was up-and-running in a day. It's good to see Joomla being supported so well.
